Ahead of releasing his collaborative album ‘Anesthetic’ on March 1, Morton debuted ‘Cross Off’ on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show today (January 8). The track features the vocals of the late Linkin Park frontman, which were recorded just a few months before his untimely death in June 2017.

It comes after Morton discussed the collaboration in December 2018, telling Metal Hammer that was he was “blown away” by Bennington’s efforts.
“He had told me he really liked the song, and we had communicated, but I’d never really hung out with Chester until when we started tracking,” explained Morton.
“I was really impressed for a guy at his level, at the place in the career he was at, someone of his stature and celebrity, to have that level of humility and commitment to come in there and treat this like it would be a Linkin Park song, or his own song, or whatever. I was pretty blown away by that. And it was immediate.

“Fifteen minutes after we met, we were standing over a table, one on either side, each with scraps of paper and pencil, crossing off words and trying different rhyme schemes and stuff. And then after the track was laid out, then we took a breath and started talking about more personal stuff — real-life shit. And yeah… he surprised me the most.”

In December 2018, Linkin Park’s Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell also discussed the possibility of the band making more music.
“It’s a big question,” he told Sirius XM’s Volume West. “I think the easiest way to answer it is probably just to say I don’t know. And then I can expound upon that.”
He added: “The five of us, we still love getting a chance to hang out. We hang out quite a bit. I think we will do music again. We all want to. We all still enjoy being together and being around each other.”
