Getting Serial Number Changed? Nov 18, 2011. I had an iPad2 for 3 weeks & I dropped it Apple talked me through doing a back up & said when my new one arrived to restore from back up & all would be good. Is given a new refurbished part number and serial number. A new iPad 2 has one of these part numbers. I believe yours is the A1395. So the change it. It will not change a logicboard's serial number if one is already set. I find a way to change the serial number what next? IPad, and Mac platforms.

Hello Experts,
I work in an IT dept. and we have 600 + employees who have iPads that our company purchased. When employees leave to find another job or if they are let go my dept. gets their iPads back. However, the past employees entered a passcode and I'm having trouble resetting their iPads back to factory settings. I tried to put them in Recovery mode but that just updates and restores their iPad and after you go through the initial setup you are stuck with entering a passcode. If I connect their iPads to my iTunes account it prompts me to enter their iTunes account.

Is there something that I'm missing to reset an iPad to factory settings with a forgotten passcode?
